U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released the final rule for the meaningful use of electronic health records (EHR). Medicare and Medicaid incentives are given as a reward for meaningful use of qualified, certified EHRs. The use of certified EHRs will also increase accuracy, reduce errors, help providers in decision-making and support features like E-Prescribing. Eligible professionals (EPs) and hospitals can receive incentives under the Medicaid, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage programs. The official website for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs has been launched. The site provides detailed and up-to-date information on EHR incentive programs. The site will provide the resources needed for Eligible Professionals and hospitals applying for incentives by demonstrating meaningful use of certified EHR technology.
